Kristine & Matthew’s Wedding at The Langham & St. James Chapel
Kristine & Matthew: A Timeless Chicago Celebration at The Langham
Capturing Kristine and Matthew’s wedding was a masterclass in classic Chicago elegance. From the modern luxury of The Langham to the historic beauty of St. James Chapel, every moment of their June 15, 2019 wedding was filled with cinematic detail.
The Morning: Anticipation and Toasts
The day began at The Langham Chicago, with the ladies preparing in the Bridal Suite and the gentlemen in the Stratton Room. We captured the joyful energy of Kristine and her bridesmaids during their robe photos, complete with confetti and champagne on the bed. One of the most touching segments to film was the couple’s private card exchange, heartfelt words shared before the ceremony began. Following emotional first looks with Kristine’s parents and her bridesmaids, the bridal party departed for the chapel in a classic Rolls Royce and a vintage-style party bus.
The Ceremony: A Grand Union
The ceremony took place at the stunning St. James Chapel. Guests arrived to Bach’s “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring,” the processional flowed to Pachelbel’s “Canon in D,” and Kristine entered to the “Bridal Chorus.” A standout musical highlight for the film: Matthew’s sister Elizabeth performing a beautiful rendition of “Ave Maria.” The couple’s “I dos” concluded with a spirited grand exit of ribbon wands and cheers from their 118 guests.
The Portraits: Iconic Chicago Backdrops
Between ceremony and reception, we followed the newlyweds across the city for breathtaking footage in the Art Institute’s South Garden and at the iconic Wrigley Building, the classic Rolls Royce providing the perfect cinematic prop against the Chicago skyline.
The Reception: Dancing and Rock & Roll
The celebration returned to The Langham’s Devonshire Ballroom, transformed by HMR Designs with gray textured linens, soft pin-spotting, and a white vinyl dance floor. The evening kicked off with a high-energy grand entrance to Frankie Valli’s “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You,” followed by a classic champagne tower pour.
The highlight of the night, and a favorite for the highlight reel: Matthew took the stage with the TVK band to perform The Beatles’ “A Hard Day’s Night” on guitar. The night concluded with quintessential Chicago treats, Garrett’s Popcorn and Lou Malnati’s late-night pizza, before the couple prepared for their honeymoon in Bora Bora.
