A Decades-Long Love Story: Danae & Christopher’s Greek-Italian Wedding in Chicago

After ten and a half years of shared memories, Danae and Christopher’s paths, “destined to collide,” finally led them to the altar on July 13, 2019. Described as the “Mediterranean version of Ken and Barbie,” the couple celebrated a beautiful fusion of Italian and Greek heritage in the heart of Chicago. Their wedding was more than a ceremony; it was the continuation of what family members called a “rare love story” and proof that “dreams really do come true.”

The Ceremony: St. James Chapel

The day began with a moving ceremony at Saint James Chapel. As Danae walked down the aisle to Pachelbel’s “Canon in D,” she looked, in the words of one guest, like “the proverbial million dollars,” with an inner beauty to match. Under the chapel’s high arches, the couple exchanged vows to remain together for better or worse, in sickness and in health.

Following the ceremony, the newlyweds and their wedding party traveled across the city for a series of breathtaking portraits at Chicago’s most iconic landmarks:

The Reception: The Drake Hotel

The celebration continued in the legendary Gold Coast Room at The Drake Hotel. The evening was a masterclass in elegance and energy:

• A soulful first dance: the couple danced to “Only You,” performed live by groomsman John Splithoff and bridesmaid Demetra Londos.
• Heritage and tradition: multiple sets of Greek dancing brought the entire room to life.
