Carli & Sean’s Wedding at St. James Chapel & The Old Post Office

Carli & Sean: A Classic Chicago Love Story

There is something inherently cinematic about a Chicago wedding in late autumn. For Carli and Sean, their November 11, 2023 celebration was a masterclass in urban elegance, spanning three of the city’s most iconic locations: from high-energy preparations at The Peninsula Chicago to a grand reception at The Old Post Office.

The Morning: Timeless Elegance

Our cameras began the day capturing the quiet, beautiful details at The Peninsula Chicago. While the ladies finished hair and makeup, we focused on the meaningful getting-ready pieces: Carli’s invitation suite, her perfume, and the delicate veil that would soon trail behind her. The emotional heart of the morning was the first look on the Peninsula stairs: Sean’s reaction as Carli descended toward the ballroom was a pure, unscripted moment of joy.

The Ceremony: St. James Chapel

The couple traveled to St. James Chapel for a traditional and breathtaking ceremony, the atmosphere set by Bach’s “Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D Major” as the processional began, leading to a ceremony filled with warmth and reverence.

Iconic Chicago Backdrops

Following the “I dos,” the bridal party boarded a trolley for a photo and film session at the Chicago Board of Trade, the city’s architecture serving as the perfect backdrop for a true Chicago couple.

The Celebration: The Old Post Office

The evening transitioned to the stunning, historic halls of The Old Post Office. Before the guests arrived, we captured the couple in the building’s unique Vault, a space that perfectly matched the sophisticated vibe of their day.

  • The grand entrance: introduced as Mr. and Mrs. Kelly to the upbeat sounds of “Everlasting Love.”
  • A modern twist: instead of a traditional cake, the couple cut into a pie to “Love on Top” before pouring a spectacular champagne tower.
  • The first dance: a poignant moment filmed to Calum Scott’s “Biblical.”
  • A full dance floor: with the Becca Kaufman Orchestra providing the music, the energy stayed high from the first note until the final bus departure.
