Capturing Lauren and Ryan’s June 22, 2019 wedding was a masterclass in Chicago elegance, blending historic charm with sleek, modern sophistication. From the skyline views at the Renaissance Downtown to the iconic galleries of the Art Institute, every moment of the day was cinematic.

Morning Preparations & Emotional First Looks

The day began at the Renaissance Downtown Chicago, where Lauren and her bridal party shared a playful morning in matching pajamas before she stepped into her gown. One of the most touching moments captured on film was the private first look between Lauren and her father before departing for the ceremony.

A Classic Ceremony at St. Michael’s

The couple exchanged vows at the breathtaking St. Michael in Old Town. The film highlights the grand processional to “Canon in D,” the solemnity of the ceremony, and the joyful recessional to Handel’s “Music for the Royal Fireworks.” Following the service, we captured the new Mr. and Mrs. Trzaska amidst the historic architecture for family portraits.

Iconic Chicago Portraits

Before the reception, the wedding party traveled by trolley to some of the city’s most beautiful landmarks: Milton Lee Olive Park for waterfront skyline views, the Art Institute gardens for lush urban greenery, and the Nichols Bridgeway, where we took Lauren and Ryan for romantic night shots overlooking the city lights.

A High-Art Celebration at the Modern Wing

The reception took place in the striking Griffin Court of the Art Institute’s Modern Wing. Guests enjoyed cocktails on the Bluhm Terrace before being welcomed into a reception space that perfectly mirrored the couple’s chic style.

• The grand entrance: the parents entered to “Walking on Sunshine,” followed by the bridal party to Mr Jukes.
• The speeches: heartfelt toasts from both fathers, the maid of honor, and two best men.
• The first dance: a beautiful moment set to Lukas Graham’s “Love Someone,” with guests invited to join the couple halfway through.
• The surprise: a special surprise father-daughter dance that brought a unique energy to the floor.
• Late night: Portillo’s late-night snacks, and a final dance to Blink-182’s “First Date.”
