Shannon & Michael: A Cinematic Chicago Celebration

Captured on July 3, 2021, Shannon and Michael’s wedding was a masterclass in classic Chicago elegance. From the high-rise luxury of The Langham to the historic aisles of Old St. Patrick’s Church, our lenses focused on the timeless romance and vibrant energy of a summer day in the city.

The Morning: Preparation & Portraits

The day began in the light-filled bridal suite at The Langham, where Shannon and her bridesmaids prepared for the festivities with hair by Amy Geister and makeup by Rosie Scianna. We captured the delicate details of the morning, the HMR floral arrangements arriving and the final touches on Shannon’s gown before her first look with Michael.

The couple shared an intimate first look at the Langham Covered Walkway, a perfect urban backdrop for their initial reaction to seeing one another. Following this emotional moment, we moved through the city for cinematic bridal party shots along the Chicago River and in the Langham’s iconic lobby.

The Ceremony: Old St. Patrick’s Church

The ceremony took place at the stunning Old St. Patrick’s Church. Shannon made a breathtaking entrance, escorted by her father to the sounds of “A Thousand Years.” The historic architecture of the church provided a grand, reverent atmosphere as the couple exchanged vows before Father Wall and their closest family and friends.

The Reception: Theater on the Lake

As the sun began to set, the celebration moved to Theater on the Lake, a venue offering unparalleled views of the Chicago skyline. The evening began with a lively cocktail hour featuring a three-piece jazz trio from the Gold Coast All Stars.

The reception space, designed by HMR Designs, was a vision of elegance with custom linens and floral décor. Guests enjoyed a gourmet meal catered by Gibsons before the dance floor ignited. High-energy highlights from the night included:

• The First Dance: A romantic, shortened version of Elton John’s “Your Song.”
• Parental Dances: Heartfelt moments to “Wind Beneath My Wings” and “Here Comes the Sun.”
• The Grand Finale: A spectacular sparkler show outside, lighting up the night sky against the lake.
