Emily & Michael: A Classic Chicago Love Story at St. Michael’s & Theater on the Lake

Capture the essence of a timeless Chicago wedding through the lens of Emily and Michael’s unforgettable celebration. From the historic charm of Old Town to the breathtaking waterfront views of Lake Michigan, their wedding day was a masterclass in sophisticated city elegance.

Morning Preparations & Heartfelt Exchanges

The day began at the Renaissance Chicago Downtown, where the couple prepared for their journey to the altar. A quiet, emotional highlight of the morning was the private exchange of letters, a moment where Emily and Michael shared their final thoughts before becoming husband and wife. Following hair and makeup by Rare Bird Beauties, Emily shared a moving first look with her father, Ray, followed by a joyful reveal to her bridesmaids.

A Sacred Union at St. Michael’s

The ceremony took place at the stunning St. Michael’s in Old Town. As the sounds of “Canon in D” filled the historic sanctuary, Emily made her entrance to join Michael at the altar. After a beautiful service led by Father Joji, the newlyweds made a grand exit into the plaza to the sound of ringing church bells and the cheers of 235 guests waving streamers.

Golden Hour & Grant Park

Before the party began, the wedding party headed to the Formal Gardens at Grant Park for portraits. The Chicago skyline provided a dramatic backdrop for the couple’s first film sequences as Mr. and Mrs. Carbonara.

A Sunset Celebration at Theater on the Lake

The festivities moved to the lakefront for a reception at Theater on the Lake. Guests were welcomed with signature margaritas and stunning floral arrangements by Life in Bloom. The room reveal for the couple showcased a beautifully designed space featuring Ezra Lichen and Bone Faille linens and a textured dance floor wash.

The evening was filled with high-energy highlights, including:

A Grand Entrance: The bridal party kicked off the reception to “Can’t Stop the Feeling.”
The First Dance: A romantic performance of “At Last” played live by the Entourage 8-piece band.
Heartfelt Toasts: Emotional tributes from the Father of the Bride, the Best Man, and the Maid of Honor.
The Party: The night ended on a high note with glow wands, a Fotio photobooth, and a surprise father/daughter dance.

As Emily and Michael jet off to their honeymoon in Sicily, Italy, we are honored to have captured the beginning of their next chapter.
