Alex & Kevin’s Wedding at Morgan Manufacturing

Alex & Kevin: A Modern Chicago Love Story at Morgan Manufacturing

On a beautiful Sunday in June, Alex and Kevin celebrated their union with a wedding that perfectly blended industrial-chic style with deeply personal touches, from the Ace Hotel to a candlelit aisle at Morgan Manufacturing.

The Setting

The day began at the Ace Hotel, where we captured the quiet, intimate finishing touches of hair and makeup and the detail shots of Alex’s dress, jewelry, and shoes before she stepped into her gown. The couple then shared an emotional first look on the Ace Hotel balcony, a private moment of reflection before the festivities began, followed by portraits at the Kinzie Street Bridge and the Art Institute of Chicago.

The Ceremony

The scene shifted to Morgan Manufacturing, transformed with amber uplighting, palms, greenery, and flickering candles along the aisle. The ceremony carried a curated soundtrack: a processional to Dave Matthews’ “Lover Lay Down,” Alex’s entrance from the Green Room to John Legend’s “You and I (Nobody in the World),” and a joyful recessional to Al Green’s “Let’s Stay Together.”

The Celebration

The reception kicked off with the couple introduced for the first time as “Dr. and Dr. Wang” to Brockhampton’s “Boogie,” heading straight into the cake cutting before toasts from their parents.

  • Signature cocktails: including the bride’s Moscow Mule made with her favorite Seattle ginger beer.
  • Interactive stations: food stations and a custom affogato coffee station for a late-night pick-me-up.
  • Personal touches: custom coasters and a photo booth that kept the energy high into the night.

The Final Dances

The evening’s cinematic highlights concluded with a first dance to John Legend’s “Stay With You” and a special family dance to Gloria Lynne’s “I Wish You Love,” before the celebration moved to a lower-level after-party to dance the night away.
