Adler Planetarium Chicago – Wedding Video / AJ & Aaron
AJ & Aaron: A Spectacular Chicago Celebration at the Adler Planetarium
We are proud to present the wedding story of AJ and Aaron, a day that perfectly captured the “alchemy of love” against the stunning backdrop of the Chicago skyline. From intimate morning preparations at The Langham to a high-energy dance floor at the Adler Planetarium, every moment of July 16, 2022 was filled with joy, laughter, and a deep sense of community.
The Story
AJ and Aaron chose Chicago as their wedding destination because it was the place where the people who matter most could most easily gather. As noted during their ceremony, their journey is a testament to the idea that “love is friendship caught fire.” AJ is celebrated as a smart, progressive, and deeply caring woman; Aaron as someone whose character only grows more impressive the deeper you know him. Together they have built a relationship where their love for each other exceeds their need for each other.
The Atmosphere: Ubuntu
A central theme of the evening was the African phrase “Ubuntu”: “I am who I am because of who we are.” That sentiment carried through the entire day, as AJ and Aaron turned a moment that was “really about them” into a celebration of everyone present.
Key Highlights
- The prep: the day began at The Langham, from morning hair and makeup to the couple’s first look along the riverfront.
- The vows: under the Adler Planetarium’s soaring architecture, with the skyline across the water, the couple promised to remain true through abundance and want, sickness and health, failure and success.
- The music: as eclectic and vibrant as the couple, from an instrumental Queen’s “Somebody to Love” processional to a recessional that kicked off the party with Toto’s “Africa.”
- The reception: a first dance to Jason Isbell’s “Cover Me Up” and a touching anniversary dance to “Dancing in the Moonlight.”

As the final notes of “Closing Time” played at 1 AM, it was clear that for AJ and Aaron, “never long enough” is the only way to describe a life spent together. Or as the night’s last toast put it: “The road goes on forever and the party never ends.”
