Sara & Aaron: A Hinsdale Central Love Story

Sara Lyons and Aaron Acuna met as students at Hinsdale Central High School, and their May 21, 2016 wedding brought them back to where it started. Their day moved from morning preparations in Oak Brook to a ceremony at St. Isaac Jogues Church, a nostalgic photo stop at their old high school, and a reception at what is now Lakes at Lacey in Downers Grove.

A Ceremony in Hinsdale

After preparing at Aaron’s parents’ home in Oak Brook, the couple married at St. Isaac Jogues Church in Hinsdale, followed by family portraits inside the church, timed tightly to leave room for an afternoon of outdoor photos.

A Trolley Ride Back to Hinsdale Central

The bridal party boarded a trolley for a tour of downtown Hinsdale, stopping for photos at the train tracks, the Hinsdale sign, and a brick alleyway, before a five-minute stop at Hinsdale Central High School, the spot where Sara and Aaron first met.

A Garden Reception at Lakes at Lacey

The celebration continued at the venue then known as Esplanade Lakes and now called Lakes at Lacey, in Downers Grove, with outdoor family portraits in the garden before a reception that included grand introductions for the bride, groom, and twelve-person bridal party, a cake cutting, toasts from the Maid of Honor and Best Man, and a first dance that opened into father-daughter and mother-son dances before the dance floor opened for the night.
