Grace & Vincent’s Military Winter Wedding at the University Club of Chicago
Grace & Vincent: A Timeless Winter Wedding at the University Club of Chicago
There is something undeniably magical about a winter wedding in the heart of Chicago. On a crisp February day, with the city buzzing from NBA All-Star weekend and temperatures hovering at seven degrees, Grace and Vinnie gathered their closest friends and family for a celebration that was as warm as it was elegant, from the historic halls of the University Club of Chicago to the stunning architecture of St. Clement.
The Couple
Grace and Vinnie’s story is one of selfless service and “best hearts.” Grace, a dedicated nurse at Lurie Children’s Hospital, was described by her father as the daughter they would have built “from scratch” if given the chance. Vinnie, who serves the nation in the military, is the pride and joy of his family, known for his humble nature and impressive responsibilities. Seeing them together, it’s clear that while both are independent and dynamic, they have truly flourished within each other’s love.
The Day
The morning began at the University Club, with Grace preparing in a private suite and Vinnie in the Billiards Room. After a touching first look on the 12th-floor terrace overlooking the skyline, the couple traveled to St. Clement to exchange vows in a ceremony officiated by Rev. Bill Vollmer.
The Reception: Bagpipes, Sabers, and Springsteen
Back at the University Club, the reception was a masterclass in classic Chicago style. Guests were ushered into the ballroom by a bagpiper, and the newlyweds were welcomed with a striking military saber arch during the cake cutting. The evening was filled with heartfelt toasts from the maid of honor and best man, moving tributes to Grace’s nursing career and Vinnie’s dedication to his country, before the Front of the House band led 222 guests onto the dance floor. Grace and Vinnie shared their first dance to Bruce Springsteen’s “If I Should Fall Behind,” a perfect anthem for a couple starting their life together.
