Katelyn & Andrew: A Classic Chicago Love Story at The Old Post Office

On November 5, 2022, Katelyn and Andrew celebrated their union with a breathtaking wedding that spanned some of Chicago’s most iconic landmarks: preparations at the Renaissance Chicago Downtown, a solemn ceremony at the Church of the Holy Family, and a grand reception for 293 guests at The Old Post Office.

KK Meets AK

Their story is one of serendipity and “destiny.” Katelyn, the eldest of four sisters and the “orderly, organized team leader” of the group, met Andrew, the “dark and handsome guy” sitting at table 1A, on a patio on Erie Street. After their second date, Katelyn knew he was “the one.” Their shared initials, KK and AK, became a family joke that it was “more than fate” that they ended up together. And in their early days, Andrew sealed the deal by sending mini Bundt cakes to Katelyn’s new building after learning they were her favorite dessert.

The Reveal

As videographers, we looked for the “sincerity” that Katelyn’s sister described as “the face of her soul.” The morning gave us plenty: Katelyn’s first look with her father, Ray, followed by a joyful reveal to her twelve bridesmaids outside the Renaissance.

The Ceremony at Holy Family

The processional began with “Trumpet Voluntary” before Katelyn entered on her father’s arm to “Canon in D.” Deacon Larry Sorce led the ceremony, with readings from family on love and light, a devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary set to “Ave Maria,” and a recessional to “Ode to Joy.” Then came one of the film’s most jubilant moments: the couple’s exit through a cloud of white streamers distributed to their guests.

The Grandeur of The Old Post Office

The celebration moved to the Historic Lobby of The Old Post Office, the landmark that sat vacant for 20 years before its $800 million renovation. Life in Bloom draped and lit the room, and the evening unfolded in style:

• The introductions: Mr. and Mrs. Kereiakes entered to Ray LaMontagne’s “You Are the Best Thing,” flowing straight into the cake cutting of Sweet Mandy B’s creation.
• The speeches: deeply personal toasts from the father of the bride, Andrew’s brothers (best men David and Nicholas), and Matron of Honor Lauren, Katelyn’s sister, whose own Chicago wedding we also filmed.
• The dances: a first dance to James Bay’s “Peer Pressure,” a surprise-song father-daughter dance, and a mother-son dance to Rod Stewart’s “Forever Young.”
• The rooftop: stunning nighttime footage on the Old Post Office roof, overlooking the Chicago skyline.
• The finale: Rush Street Rhythm’s full 11-piece band brought the Historic Lobby to life until “Don’t Stop Believin'” and “I’ve Had the Time of My Life” closed the night.
