BeatMix Music + 312FILMS: Live Entertainment Across Five Chicago Weddings

A great wedding band doesn’t just fill the room with music, it dictates the pacing of an entire reception: when the energy builds, when it peaks, when guests are still on the floor at midnight. BeatMix Music is a name that keeps showing up in our credits for exactly that reason. Across five Chicago weddings we’ve filmed, their bands have kept dance floors packed from the grand entrance through the last song.

About BeatMix Music

BeatMix Music was founded in 2012 by Becca Kaufman and Mike Weber, based out of Northbrook, IL. Becca, a Northwestern theater grad, had already spent years leading her own society band, the Becca Kaufman Orchestra (BKO), which became BeatMix’s first act. The company has since grown into a roster of in-house dance bands, including BPM, Time Chicago, The Party Faithful, and MixTape, backed by a production team with decades of combined live-event experience and their own owned sound equipment.

BeatMix has picked up recognition from industry groups including NACE and ILEA over the years, and client reviews consistently single out the same thing we notice on set: a band that reads a room and adjusts in real time, rather than running through a fixed setlist regardless of who’s on the floor.

The Weddings We’ve Shared

What BeatMix Music Brings to a Wedding Film

Live music gives us something a DJ set rarely does on camera: musicians reacting in the moment, a horn line hitting right as a couple takes the floor, a bandleader reading the room and stretching a song when the dance floor is still full. Across these five weddings, BeatMix’s bands have consistently delivered that kind of energy, and it shows up in the footage. A packed dance floor at 11 PM makes for a very different wedding film than an empty one, and that’s as much the band’s doing as anyone else’s on the vendor team.

For Couples Weighing Wedding Bands

If live music is part of your reception, it’s worth asking how many musicians will actually be performing and whether the band you hear at a showcase is the same lineup you’ll get on your date, since larger entertainment companies often rotate between several in-house acts. Getting that detail nailed down early avoids surprises later in planning.
