Kimberly & Rich: A Classic Chicago Love Story

Kimberly and Rich’s October 13, 2018 wedding was the epitome of classic Chicago elegance. From the historic architecture of their ceremony venue to the grand, storybook atmosphere of their reception at the Chicago History Museum, every moment was a filmmaker’s dream.

The Morning at The Ambassador

The day began at The Ambassador hotel, where Kimberly and her bridesmaids prepared in the Terrace Suite. After the bride’s reveal to her bridesmaids came one of the morning’s most emotional frames: a first look with her father on the Ambassador suite balcony before the family departed for the church.

The Ceremony at St. Gregory the Great

The ceremony took place at the breathtaking St. Gregory the Great Parish: a processional to Handel’s Air from Water Music and Pachelbel’s “Canon in D,” Kimberly’s stunning entrance to Lully’s Trumpet March, the symbolic lighting of the unity candle, and the couple’s quiet, reflective visit to Mary’s Altar as “Ave Maria” filled the sanctuary.

Autumn Portraits on the Lakefront

Between ceremony and reception, we followed the wedding party to North Avenue Beach and Lincoln Park for golden October portraits with the skyline across the water, before the couple slipped into the museum for a private room reveal with Old Fashioneds waiting.

The Celebration at the Chicago History Museum

The museum’s classic ballroom was transformed by the team at Life in Bloom, whose floral designs provided a lush, romantic atmosphere for the evening.

The introductions: parents and bridal party entered to Pharrell’s “Happy,” leading straight into the cake cutting of Amy Beck’s devil’s food creation.
Heartfelt toasts: from the father of the bride, the best man, and the maid of honor.
The parent dances: a father-daughter dance to “My Girl” (one of our top 10 father-daughter dance songs) and a mother-son dance to “That’s Amore.”
The first dance: “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You,” with guests invited to join the floor right at the dip, flowing into “I Gotta Feeling” as the party ignited.
