Fall Wedding Films
Fall is the busiest wedding season in Chicago, and for good reason. The heat breaks, the trees along the lake and the North Shore turn, and the light gets warmer and lower through the afternoon. These are the fall weddings we have filmed, from downtown ballrooms to country clubs in the suburbs.
What fall means for your wedding film
The biggest change is the light. By late October the sun sets before six (at Amanda and Dan’s wedding at The Langham it set at 5:48), so portraits outside need to happen earlier than couples expect. We plan the day around it: first looks and wedding party photos in the early afternoon, and a few minutes outside at sunset if the timeline allows. Once it is dark, the story moves inside, and a well-lit ballroom or club carries the rest of the film.
Fall weekends at the most popular venues book early, and so do we. We accept only five to seven weddings a year, so if you are planning a September or October wedding, reach out as soon as you have your date and venue.
Fall weddings we have filmed
Amanda & Dan, The Langham Chicago
An October wedding that never left the hotel: a first look in the Pavilion, an interfaith ceremony in the ballroom, and a horah before the night was over.
Megan & Matt, Morgan Manufacturing
Late October in the West Loop: portraits at the Art Institute’s South Garden and the Lincoln Park Zoo, amber-lit vows, and a packed dance floor.
Meggie & Lucas, Christ Church Lake Forest and the Ivanhoe Club
A September wedding on the North Shore, from the church in Lake Forest to the reception at the Ivanhoe Club.
Hannah & Sean, Glen View Club
A classic fall celebration at one of the North Shore’s historic country clubs.
Kaitlyn & Hobie, The Club at Wynstone
An intimate autumn microwedding in North Barrington.
