Cinematic Romance in Traverse City: Christine & Joel’s Wedding Film

Capturing the essence of a wedding day is about more than just recording events; it’s about preserving the atmosphere, the emotions, and the unique rhythm of the couple’s story. Christine and Joel’s September 3rd wedding in Traverse City was a masterclass in rustic elegance and historic charm.

The Morning: Anticipation at Hotel Indigo

The day began at Hotel Indigo, where the air was filled with champagne toasts and the buzz of preparation. While the women had their hair and makeup done by Memorable Occasions, the men prepared in their own suite. We were there at 11:30 am to capture the quiet moments before the whirlwind began.

The First Look & Portraits: Building 50

At 2:00 pm, we moved to the iconic porch at Building 50 for one of the most cinematic moments of the day: the first look. Surrounded by the historic architecture of The Village at Grand Traverse Commons, Christine and Joel shared a private moment before being joined by their bridal party for portraits. Working alongside Weber Photography, we used the stone and greenery of the grounds to frame the couple’s connection.

The Ceremony: A Melodic I Do

The ceremony took place at The Village at Grand Traverse Commons, framed by the sounds of Festival Strings. Christine’s entrance was set to “I Can’t Help Falling in Love with You,” and the couple’s joyful recessional to “Here Comes the Sun” marked their first moments as husband and wife.

The Reception: Celebration at the Cathedral Barn

The celebration moved to the Cathedral Barn at Historic Barns Park, where the energy shifted from romantic to high-voltage with a grand entrance to AC/DC’s “Thunderstruck.” Highlights included heartfelt speeches from bridesmaids Amanda York and Kalli Semler and groomsman Tom Fishwick, a slow-motion-worthy first dance to John Legend’s “All of Me,” a father-daughter dance to “My Girl,” and a remembrance song for Joel’s mother. The night closed with a packed dance floor hosted by Cage & Aquarium.
