Ellie & Matt: An Elegant Summer Celebration in the Twin Cities
On August 21, 2021, Ellie and Matt celebrated with 200 of their closest family and friends in a wedding that captured both sides of the Twin Cities: the historic, sacred architecture of St. Paul and the urban, industrial-chic energy of downtown Minneapolis. As Chicago filmmakers who love to travel, this one was a joy to chase.
Morning Preparations at the Renaissance Depot
The film opens with the quiet anticipation of the morning in the Depot’s Luce Line Room, where the bridal party prepared with the team from Primped. The most poignant frame of the morning: a private father-daughter first look, captured just before the day gathered speed.
The Sacred Ceremony at St. Thomas More
The couple exchanged vows at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in St. Paul, a breathtaking processional of bridal party, junior bridesmaids, and flower girls filling the landmark church before the rings, the vows, and the first kiss as husband and wife.
Urban Portraits & The Depot Celebration
After sweeping portraits across the Twin Cities, the celebration returned to Minneapolis and The Depot: cocktails in The Shed and Conservatory’s light-filled industrial spaces, then a private room reveal for the couple before the doors opened on the Great Northern Ballroom, dressed in florals by Sadie’s and custom linens by Linen Effects.
