Feyi and Ayo’s wedding day was an 11-hour journey through Chicago’s most iconic locations, culminating in a vibrant Nigerian wedding reception at Preston Bradley Hall in the Chicago Cultural Center.
The Morning: Anticipation and Style
The day began at noon with Feyi and her bridesmaids preparing at the bride’s home while Ayo and his groomsmen got ready at theWit, the party bus sweeping the bridal party toward the church.
The Vows: St. James
The couple exchanged vows at St. James during a 3:30 pm ceremony that included a moving sermon and communion, the church’s architecture giving the first half of their film a solemn, graceful backdrop.
City Portraits: Iconic Chicago
After the ceremony, the bridal party took to the streets for portraits at the Millennium Park garden by the Art Institute and the Kinzie Street Bridge, the urban energy setting up the transition into their grand reception.
The Reception: Culture and Celebration at Preston Bradley
The evening moved to Preston Bradley Hall, where the energy shifted into high gear with bridal party introductions to a mix including “1 World, Hold On,” “Dorobucci,” and “Dynamite.”
- The first dance: a medley of “All of Me” and “Stay with Me,” turning into a surprise performance of Wizkid’s “I Love My Baby.”
- The secret dance set: Feyi and her father, Sola, surprised guests before transitioning into “Uptown Funk,” bringing the whole room to the floor.
- Mother/son moments: Ayo and his mother danced to Naija hits including “Sweet Mother” and “Mommy O.”
- Non-stop energy: three distinct dance sets moved from Shoki and Naija hits to band classics and Top 40/hip hop.
