Lauryn Schalk, the photographer behind “Photography by Lauryn,” brings a documentary-style eye to Chicago weddings. We’ve had the chance to work alongside her once so far, on a North Shore celebration built around a deeply personal story.

The Wedding We’ve Shared

Amanda & Spencer’s wedding at The Armour House in Lake Forest included a first look that moved from the estate’s gardens to its grand marble staircase, an outdoor garden ceremony, and a reception with father-daughter and mother-son dances. The most personal touch: at our suggestion, the couple read their own love letters aloud, and we wove their voices into the film’s soundtrack. Lauryn’s photography and our film covered the day side by side, from morning prep through the last dance.
