Germania Place was a historic 1889 clubhouse in Chicago’s Gold Coast neighborhood, known for its grand ballroom and ornate architecture. The venue has since permanently closed, but we were glad to have filmed weddings there while it was still hosting Chicago couples.

A Wedding We Filmed at Germania Place

Cari and Greg married at the Church of the Holy Family in August 2016, then brought their reception to Germania Place with a high-energy grand entrance to AC/DC’s “Thunderstruck,” a first dance to Joshua Radin’s “When We’re Together,” and a full-room sing-along to “Don’t Stop Believin'” before an after-party at DryHop Brewers.

We also filmed Lauren and Scott’s wedding, with a ceremony at Saint Hedwig Catholic Parish and a reception at Germania Place through Kenmare Catering. See that film: Germania Place / Kenmare Catering.

Remembering Germania Place

Germania Place’s grand ballroom, chandeliers, and ornate detailing made it one of the Gold Coast’s most striking reception spaces while it was open. Even though the venue is no longer available for booking, films like Cari and Greg’s keep that room alive.
