Morning Preparations & Heartfelt Letters
The day began at the Thompson Chicago, where the couple prepared separately. The morning was filled with emotional milestones: Alexandra reading a letter from Christopher, then sharing first looks with her bridesmaids, her father, and her brothers, while across the hotel Christopher took a quiet moment with a letter from his bride before the day swept them both up.
A Sacred Ceremony at Saint James Chapel
The couple exchanged vows at Saint James Chapel, and afterward the newlyweds traveled across the city for portraits at Lurie Garden, Union Station, and along the Chicago River, a November light tour of the city’s most cinematic backdrops.
Celebration in the Winter Garden
The reception took place in the stunning Winter Garden atop the Harold Washington Library. Guests were welcomed into the Grand Lobby for a cocktail hour with a live jazz trio before moving upstairs for dinner and dancing beneath the library’s glass dome, one of the most striking reception rooms in Chicago.
- The entrance and first dance: an introduction to an instrumental “Yellow” by Coldplay, flowing into a first dance to Elton John’s “Your Song,” performed live.
- Heartfelt toasts: from maid of honor Christa and best man Nick.
- Parent dances: Christopher and his mother Marie to “Landslide,” and Alexandra and her father Bob to The La’s “There She Goes.”
- Late-night energy: a packed dance floor and a late-night delivery of Jet’s Pizza.
